The following affirmation was made between the churches in 1989 and then reaffirmed in 2007.

An Affirmation of Commitment.
Hearing the call of Jesus Christ that his followers may Be one, we affirm our commitment made before God and his people at Pentecost, 1989, to work together for him in Wallsend.

We shall endeavour to do together all that we can, and not to do separately what we should do together.

We pledge ourselves to:

study the 'Bible;
share in prayer;
join in worship;
plan and work together in evangelisation;
speak and act together on issues of social concern;
enjoy fellowship.

In making this commitment we recognise the fear and difficulties we have and undertake, even at cost to ourselves, to explore them and find our common faith. In Being open to change we hope to support one another in witness, action and prayer and grow to understand each other's traditions.

We make this commitment
in the name of the Father,
and of the Son,
and of the Holy Spirit.
